Taylorsville Man Nabbed For Stealing Catalytic Converters

On December 29, 2025, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a larceny involving multiple catalytic converters being removed from vehicles. Investigators immediately began an investigation into the incident.

On January 12, 2026, the Sheriff’s Office received another report of a larceny involving multiple catalytic converters at a different location, which was believed to be related to the earlier incident.
On January 13, 2026, deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from North Carolina Probation and Parole, arrested David Wayne Mecimore as a result of the investigation.

David Wayne Mecimore, age 42, of Taylorsville has been charged with:

12 counts of Felony Larceny Motor Vehicle Parts
7 counts of Injury to Personal Property
First-Degree Trespass

Mecimore is currently being held at the Alexander County Detention Center under a $280,000 secured bond. His first court appearance is scheduled for January 20, 2026, in Alexander County District Court.
