Cook has a number of previous charges awaiting trial in Alexander County. Those offenses include felony assault by strangulation, possession of a firearm by a felon, assault on a female and driving while license revoked.
In August, Cook was released from prison after serving 19 months for assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. The charges date back to December 2021 when Taylorsville Police attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Cook on Lewittes Road. Cook refused to stop and a chase began and ended on Old Vashti Road when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled into a field. According to the arrest report, Cook attempted to ram a patrol vehicle during the chase.
