Taylorsville Man Charged With Statutory Rape

According to information released today, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the Rowan County Department of Social Services regarding a possible sexual offense involving a child. The incident was reported to have occurred in Iredell County in late 2023. The case was assigned to Detective E. Lane of the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit for further investigation.

Through the course of the investigation, Detective Lane conducted witness interviews, gathered relevant documents, and facilitated a forensic interview with the juvenile victim. The suspect was identified as 60-year-old Charles Andrew Harmon of Old Charlotte Road in Taylorsville.

On March 1st, Harmon was charged with felony first-degree statutory rape. He remains in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond. The investigation is ongoing and more charges might be forthcoming according to a press release.

Harmon has a criminal history that includes convictions for misdemeanor child abuse, assault by pointing a gun, and multiple traffic offenses.
