The call was received at the Clerk of Courts Office around 10am. The building was quickly evacuated. After an all-clear was issued, staff returned to their positions and court proceedings resumed.
Around 3:51 pm, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office arrested Matthew Lawton Headden, age 36 of Taylorsville. He is charged with one count of terrorism, one count of making a false bomb report at a public building, and one count of communicating threats. Headden was placed without bond in the County Detention Center.
Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance: Taylorsville Police Department, North Carolina Highway Patrol, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, North Carolina Adult Probation, Iredell County Sheriff’s Office bomb detecting K-9 , Alexander County EMS, Taylorsville Fire Department, and Alexander County Emergency Management.
Headden was arrested by Taylorsville Police Officers on March 25 and charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, possession of schedule VI controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges are sill pending with a court date set for December 9th.

Following a court appearance, bond is now set at $55,000.
