Stony Point Traffic Stop Nets Felony Drug Charge

Early Thursday morning, an Alexander County Deputy conducted a traffic stop in the Stony Point area and identified the driver as Jonathan Blackwood Collins, a 27-year-old white male from Newland, NC. During the stop, the Deputy discovered Collins to be in possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Collins was taken into custody and transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was charged with the following offenses:

One count of Possession of Methamphetamine
One count of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

He was issued a $7,500 secured bond and is scheduled to make his first appearance in Alexander County District Court on August 18.
