Stolen Statesville Vehcile Crashes After High-Speed Chase. Driver Killed By Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound

On Thursday, just after 2 pm, a NC Highway Patrol Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle on Interstate 77 in Northern Iredell County.

The vehicle had been reported as stolen in Statesville.

The pursuit reached speeds of over 100 mph and ended in Surry County when the stolen vehicle crashed.

It was quickly determined that the driver was dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The driver has been identified as 20 year old, Dashawn Samuels, from Charlotte.
