Statesville Man Shot And Killed Sunday Morning

A man was shot and killed early today in Statesville. The victim is 52-year-old Richard Pledger.

At approximately 12:25 a.m. the Statesville Police Department responded to a 911 call regarding a gunshot victim at a residence in the 600 block of Stewart Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered Richard Pledger inside the residence with a gunshot wound.

Emergency responders from Iredell County EMS and the Statesville Fire Department attempted to save the victim, however, Pledger was pronounced deceased at the scene. The Statesville Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit and Criminal Investigations Division are investigating the incident. No further details were available.
