The Statesville Police Department says they were informed on February 7th about a sex offense between a black male subject and a juvenile victim. An investigation revealed sexual assaults happened during a 3-year period.
The Iredell County Department of Social Services and investigators with Statesville Police searched the home of 52-year old William Ray Clark on Wexford Way.
Following the search, Clark was charged with 74 counts each of first-degree statutory rape and sex act by a substitute parent; 78 counts each of incest and indecent liberties with children; and 76 counts of statutory sex offense with a child by an adult. He also was charged with two counts of probation violation.
Witness statements and evidence collected at the home were enough for Clark to be arrested on the scene. He was declared a danger to the public and is being held in the Iredell County Detention Center without bond.
