Statesville, NC – On Friday, October 10, 2025, at approximately 12:50 am, Officers with the Statesville Police Department were assisting a motorist whose vehicle had broken down in the West Front Street area when they observed a silver BMW traveling eastbound, swerving, and crossing the centerline of the roadway.
An Officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop after observing the vehicle being operated in a careless and reckless manner. The driver failed to stop, turning onto Phoenix Street, where Officers heard the vehicle strike a curb. The vehicle continued despite visible damage, slowing as it turned onto Birchcrest Circle before coming to a stop near the dead end.
The driver then turned around, briefly driving back toward officers before making another U-turn and stopping in front of a residence in the 800 block of Birchcrest Circle. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot but was quickly apprehended after a short pursuit.
