The North Carolina Highway Patrol and Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies took 42-year old Marty Joe Bryan into custody on Saturday evening. Officers pursued his vehicle after spotting it traveling in excess of 100 miles per hour on Highway 90 near Hiddenite. The chase went onto Lentz Road, Highway 64-90, and back to Lentz Road where Bryan lost control and crashed into a field. He fled the wreckage and took refuge in a wooded area before being spotted and taken into custody.
The charges include felony possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to heed a light or siren, felony flee/elude arrest with a motor vehicle, speeding/reckless driving with wanton-disregard, driving impaired, driving with license revoked, and resisting a public officer.
Bryan was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $20,000. He was scheduled for a court appearance on Monday in Taylorsville.
