Sixth Flood Victim Identified In Alexander County

November 17, 2020 By Richard C. Gilbert

A man has been identified as Alexander County’s 6th victim of last week’s flooding.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says 64-year old Daniel Keith Ballew of Hiddenite perished when his vehicle ran off a washed out section of Hopewell Church Road in the early morning hours of Thursday, November 12th.

Ballew joins five others who died in flooding at the Hiddenite Family Campground. More than thirty people were rescued from the campground that recorded waters of 11-14 feet deep from the South Yadkin River.
