The Alexander County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet this evening at 7pm and hear a proposal for a shooting range proposed off Teague Town Road. According To County Planning and Development Director Jon Pilkenton, the range would be located on a 68 acre parcel. Landon Ferguson is applying for the permit.
A number of area residents are voicing their concerns about the safety and noise such an operation might bring. Pilkenton says that Ferguson has plans to make the range as safe as possible but many have doubts.
The nine-member board will review the application and submit a recommendation to the Alexander County Board of Commissioners. The Commissioners will ultimately make a decision on the permit.
The meeting is scheduled for 7pm at Taylorsville Town Hall.
