Pedestrian Killed In Hit And Run In Iredell County

A Statesville man was killed after being struck by two vehicles Thursday night on Old Mountain Road in Iredell County.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol says 54-year old David Morris Hawks died after being struck while walking along Old Mountain Rod near the intersection with Highway 70. The mishap happened around 9:30 pm. Hawks was then hit by a second vehicle driven by a Taylorsville man according to troopers. The driver of the vehicle that struck Hawks fled the scene but is reported to have turned himself in today.

The identity of the driver of the hit and run vehicle has not yet been identified.
