Marion: An anonymous phone call about an active shooter at McDowell High School prompted a heavy law enforcement response this morning.
McDowell County Superintendent Tracy Grit said local emergency services received an anonymous report of a possible active shooter at around 8:11 am. After a search of the building, Grit said law enforcement found no victims.
“There is currently no confirmed threat to students or staff,” Grit said in a news release. The investigation is ongoing.
Students at McDowell High School and West McDowell Middle School would be released at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
