Newton Man Released From Prison Then Placed In Alexander County Jail

A Newton man was released from prison on Monday and abruptly placed in the Alexander County Jail.

40-year old Matthew Meenou Yang completed a 19 month prison sentence for possession of a firearm by a felon. He was served an order for arrest by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office on Monday for previous charges that include felony possession of schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. A misdemeanor larceny charge is pending in Catawba County as well. Yang is scheduled for Alexander County Superior Court on February 3rd in Taylorsville.
