A Newton man was killed in a head-on collision on Tuesday in Conover.
26-year old Ivan Nolasco was driving a vehicle south on Section House Road around 5pm on Tuesday . The vehicle crossed into the oncoming lane near Cone Court NW and collided with a SUV traveling north according to Conover Police. Nolasco was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the SUV, 41-year old Robert Kearns of Hickory, suffered injuries that were not life-threatening. He was taken to Catawba Valley Medical Center.
