Newton Police arrested 22-year old Chanceler Timothy Johnson on Monday. He’s charged with carrying a concealed gun, assault on a government official, resisting a public officer and malicious conduct by a prisoner. The Newton resident was held in the Catawba County Detention Center and since has been released with a secured bond of $15,00. A Tuesday court appearance is scheduled for Johnson.
