Motorcycle Operator Killed In Alexander County Crash

Taylorsville- On Tuesday, May 19th, at approximately 8:29 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision on Rink Dam Road near Fess Little Road, in Alexander County. A 2019 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling South on Rink Dam Road, lost control and drove off  the right side of the road before colliding with a mailbox. The motorcycle then overturned causing the driver to be ejected.
 
The driver of the Harley Davidson, Dean Patrick Lewis, 58, of Catawba succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the collision.
 
Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the collision.
 
While Troopers conducted the on-scene investigation, Rink Dam Road was closed for approximately 2 hours
