Morganton Woman Charged After Stabbing Incident

25-year-old Savannah Lashay Neal of Morganton was arrested Sunday, July 21st by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with assault with a deadly weapon, crime of domestic violence, injury to personal property, driving while impaired.

Today, shortly after midnight officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety were dispatched to UNC Health Blue Ridge in reference to a report of a stabbing. The incident occurred at a residence inside the city limits of Morganton. 

Officers interviewed the victim and identified a suspect and the location of the incident.  While traveling to that location, Burke County Communications told officers the suspect had called in and wanted to speak with them from a location outside the city limits.  The suspect was located by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and identified as Savannah Lashay Neal. Further investigation led to Neal’s arrest. Police reports state she was arrested at 3:30 am on Sunday.

No details were released regarding the victim’s condition. Neal received a 48 hour hold and a first appearance in court on September 27 for the charges connected to the stabbing and a custody release and first appearance on October 7 for the DWI charge. The investigation is ongoing and more charges are pending.
