Matthew Steven Baird, 35 of Morganton, is charged in Alexander County with felony fraud-obtaining property by false pretense. He was taken into custody on Tuesday and is being held under a secured bond of $60,000. Baird is scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court on September 30th.
