Morganton Man Charged After Firing Gun While Holding Two-Year-Old

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the arrest of a man who allegedly fired a gun while holding his two-year-old child.

Ronald Clarence Andrews Jr., age 35 of Morganton, was charged Monday. Arrest documents indicate that Andrews “created and allowed a substantial risk of physical injury to a child by other than accidental means.” The suspect is charged with child abuse. The warrant stipulates Andrews was drinking alcohol and in a verbal argument with another person when he fired a weapon into the ground.

As of this report Andrews remains in jail under a $10,000 secured bond.
