A juvenile has been charged in connection to a shooting in Morganton. On Monday, July 28, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Morganton Public Safety Officers responded to the area of East Union Street and Butler Street in reference to multiple calls of shots fired. Officers canvassed the area and were not able to find anyone at that time. After a search of a wooded area close to the location, multiple spent shell casings were found.
A description of a juvenile male wearing all black was released, the individual was reportedly walking in the area and an image was located. After follow up by the Criminal Investigations Division the juvenile male suspect was identified and found along with five firearms, multiple magazines, ammunition, and one ounce of mushrooms.
The NC Department of Juvenile Justice responded and took custody of the juvenile for possession of the firearms and narcotics. Due to this case involving a juvenile no other information will be released.
