More than $500,000 in cash was found “carefully concealed” inside a tractor-trailer along I-85 in Gaston County this week.
The money was found on Tuesday after the truck was pulled over for a traffic violation. Once stopped, a Gaston County Police K9 alerted to the smell of drugs.
Police said they did an “extensive search” of the truck and found the cash packaged in individual bundles inside the trailer.
Officials said the way the money was bundled was consistent with methods used to conceal large amounts of cash often associated with drug trafficking and money laundering.
The investigation is ongoing according to a press release.
