An Alexander County man who was living in Bethlehem with a Hickory address has been sentenced to prison after a plea deal on an array of child-sex related offenses.

During a session of Alexander County Superior Court on Wednesday, 32-year old Richard Dean Jordan entered pleas to the following

Four Felony counts of 2nd-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
Felony 1st degree sexual exploitation of a minor
Felony indecent liberties with a minor

He was sentenced to a total of 178 to 523 months (14.8 years to 43.5 years) in state prison. He was further ordered to have no contact with victims or victim’s families. He will be required to be entered into the State Sex-Offender Registry upon his release.

Also on Wednesday, Jordan entered a guilty-plea to a felony charge of secret peeping in Iredell County. He was sentenced to serve 6-17 months in prison following the Alexander County terms.

Jordan was arrested by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office on April 4th, 2025. At the time of his arrest, Jordan was a doctor of Cytopathology and listed in Residency at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A statement from the hospital indicated he had been on-staff since 2024.

Alexander County Sheriff Chad Pennell said at the time of the arrest that Detectives were notified by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Program that referenced a photo of a 10-year-old girl and a video of a 6-year-old girl being uploaded. Jordan was also producing videos, revealed after a search warrant uncovered additional videos made from a hidden camera inside a bathroom at his home in Alexander County. Another victim was reported to be two-years-old.
