More Details Released After Two Men Suffer Injuries In Morning Explosion

January 7, 2025 By Richard C. Gilbert

Two men suffered injuries and were airlifted from the scene of an explosion this morning in Hiddenite.

Alexander County Fire Marshall Mark Earle says the men were working with a propane tank. The investigation has yet to reveal how vapors from the tank exploded inside a garage structure. Earle says he has communicated with the hospital and it appears the victims will survive but he was not able to provide the extent of their injuries.

The metal garage was located on Rocky Springs Road. Alexander County 911 received the call around 11am.

The investigation is ongoing.
