Missing South Carolina Teen Located In Wilkes County. Rape Charge Filed

A man has been charged with second-degree forcible rape, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after a missing juvenile from out of state was found at his residence according to the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.
The charges were filed against Douglas Craig Gillis, 41, of Laurel Springs. Gillis remains in the Wilkes County Jail under $100,000 secure bond.
 
According to reports, the victim is a teenage female who had been missing since Sept. 5. 

The Wilkes Sheriff’ Office issued a statement:

On (Saturday) September 13th, 2025, the Wilkes County Communication Center received information on a possible location of a missing juvenile from South Carolina in Wilkes County. Deputies were dispatched to 520 Cameron Mountain Road, Laurel Springs, to check for a missing juvenile, and upon their arrival, they located the juvenile on the property.
