McDowell High School in Marion has canceled the remainder of the Varsity Men and JV Boys Basketball season.
The announcement follows an an outbreak of COVID-19 that sidelined numerous players. The Titans varsity was 6-3 on the season. The Titans’ last game was a 71-68 win on the road at Freedom on Saturday, Feb. 6. The next day a McDowell player tested positive for COVID-19 shutting down activity for the entire roster for 10 days. The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has since extended the shut-down period to 14 days.
The McDowell women will attempt to complete the season.
