Lenoir – On Saturday, March 15, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the NC State Highway Patrol responded to and investigated a fatal collision in Caldwell County on Playmore Beach Road near Pax Hill Road. A 2015 Jeep Wrangler traveling south on Playmore Beach Road, drove off the right side of the road, went down an embankment, overturned, and struck a tree.
The driver of the Jeep, Coty Nathaniel Adams, 33, of Valdese, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision. During the on-scene investigation, the roadway was closed in the area for several hours.
