Man Gets Minimum Sentence Of 11 Years In Caldwell County Meth Trafficking Case

35-year-old Keenan Ryan Michaux was sentenced to a minimum of more than ten years in prison in a Caldwell County case involving meth trafficking. He’ll serve 11 to 15 years in prison following his conviction for trafficking methamphetamine by possession and transportation. He was sentenced during a recent session of Caldwell County Superior Court.

Michaux, who has a Morganton address according to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, was given the active sentence by the Honorable Tommy Davis, Superior Court Judge from Rutherford County, after entering a guilty plea. In addition to the prison sentence, Michaux also will have to pay a mandatory fine of $100,000.

Michaux was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for speeding by a Caldwell County deputy on November 24, 2024. A K-9 unit alerted to the presence of narcotics, and deputies conducted a search of the vehicle and its occupants. The defendant was found to be in possession of a trafficking amount of methamphetamine, confirmed by the North Carolina State Crime Lab.

The case was investigated by the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the Lenoir Police Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
