A man has died as the result of a Wilkes County house fire. Robert Bowers, 78, died at Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin on January, 3rd. Bowers was pulled from a burning mobile home located off Annie Sophia Lane in the Shepherds Crossroads section of Roaring River. The fire is said to be accidental but remains under investigation by the Wilkes County Fire Marshall’s Office.
Bowers’ daughter was also in the structure at the time of the blaze but managed to escape. She was treated for smoke inhalation and released from the hospital.
