
Tyler Blake Daughenbaugh
Tyler Blake Daughenbaugh, 24, of Mount Airy was sentenced by Senior Resident Superior Court Judge Michael D. Duncan on February 13th in Wilkes County Superior Court.
Daughenbaugh was originally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of James “Jimmy” Leroy Conley, 53, who was deceased when Wilkes Sheriff’s Office deputies found him lying on the ground outside his home in the Pleasant Hill Community on the morning of June 13, 2021.
Daughenbaugh’s told investigators that he shot Conley because he thought Conley had molested his daughter.
Daughenbaugh pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon as part of a plea agreement. The two offenses were consolidated for sentencing. He was originally charged with first-degree murder.
The Surry County Sheriff’s Office, Mount Airy Police Department, Carroll County (Va.) Sheriff’s Office and State Bureau of Investigation assisted the Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office in the case.
