Man Charged With Weapons Offense And Probation Violation

57-year old Michael Douglas Porter of Taylorsville is in custody after being charged with possession of a firearm by a felon and felony probation violations. Porter was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office.

Porter was arrested in 2018 and charged with firing shots in the direction of firefighters near his home on Icard Ridge Road. He had called the firefighters to the location himself in regards to a grass/brush fire.

Porter is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a secured bond of $25,000 pending a court appearance on January 4th.
