A Catawba County man charged with the murder of a Taylorsville woman made a first court appearance on Friday, he remains in jail without bond.

On Tuesday, October 7, at approximately 1:03 PM, Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence located at 209 Stan De La Drive, in the Wittenburg Community.
Upon arrival, Officers located the victim, identified as Jamie Suzette McCloud, a 54-year-old white female of Taylorsville. She had apparently been deceased for a number of days. The cause of death has not been released but an autopsy ruled that McCloud died by homicide.

William Marshal Shook 32, of Claremont, was determined to be a suspect by the Investigators. The victim’s vehicle, a 2005 gray Toyota Tacoma, was missing. A warrant for felony larceny of a motor vehicle was issued for Shook.

McCloud and Shook were in a dating relationship according to a press release.

On Thursday, October 9, as the result of a traffic stop, Deputies with the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office in Ohio located the stolen vehicle and took Shook into custody on the outstanding warrant.

On Monday, October 13, Shook waived extradition during a court appearance in Ohio. He was transported back to Taylorsville. He was charged with murder and placed in the Alexander County Detention Center on Thursday, October, 16th.

Shook was granted counsel by a presiding judge on Friday.
