Wilkesboro Police were called to the Days Inn on Highway 421 around 2:25am Sunday.
A Texas man told Police he was in bed when a bullet hit just above his head striking the headboard.
Reports indicate a female and a male subject exited a room. The male identified as Germany Martezz Butler, age 33 of Monroe has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon, discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling, possessing a stolen firearm, discharging a firearm in city limits, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and four counts of injury to real property. Butler was placed in the Wilkes County Jail under a $1 million bond. The female has not been charged.
A 9MM handgun was found in the room that was occupied by Butler. The weapon is reported as stolen from Caldwell County,
Butler has a long criminal history in both North Carolina and Tennessee and is reported tell officers he wanted to go back to prison.
