Man Charged In Connection With Three Armed Robberies

A Wilkesboro man who police say robbed a Statesville gas station last Tuesday is also a suspect in a robbery at a motel last month. 21 year old Elton Petit Frere was arrested last week by Statesville Police.
Officers responded to a robbery in progress at the Gas N’ Snack and Long John Silver’s on Landson Drive around 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, January, 1st. A suspect had entered both stores demadning money. He implied he was armed although no weapon was seen. Officers chased suspect on foot heading towards Sowers Lane and arrested Petit Frere, no weapon was located.

Investigators have also linked Petit Frere to a Dec. 28th robbery at the Red Roof Inn on East Broad Street. Police say he showed a knife and stole cash. Petit Frere is being held under a $300,000 secured bond.
