According to published reports, the Long View Police Department reported that the shooting happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. Saturday (May 4) on Third Avenue Northwest near U.S. 321. Police reports say the victim of the shooting went to a convenience store at Second Avenue and U.S. 321, before being taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officers say the male victim was a family member of Gibson. The victim was reportedly shot while inside a car with his wife and two juveniles. He drove the car to the store following the shooting. Police say the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.
Gibson was placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility without bond. A District Court date is scheduled Monday in Newton.
