Lenoir Man Enters Guilty Plea To Voluntary Manslaughter

Fredrick Alvin Patterson, age 52, of Harpertown Drive in Lenoir has been convicted in Caldwell County Superior Court of Voluntary Manslaughter in the death of Douglas Antonio Burgess.

On the night of August 23rd, 2022, Patterson and Burgess were attending a relative’s birthday party when an argument broke out between the two men, ending with Burgess being fatally shot.

Patterson left the scene but was arrested two days later and initially charged with murder. This week Patterson entered a guilty plea to Voluntary Manslaughter, and was sentenced to 78-106 months in State Prison.
