Latest On Double Murder Investigation

February 15, 2019 By Richard C. Gilbert

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a double murder and a third death that could be related.

Last Saturday, 38 year old Chad Lee Kennedy and Mark Jefferson Furey, age 57 were found shot to death inside a mobile home off Mt. Wesley Church Road. Sheriff Chris Bowman said that both men were shot multiple times. A number of neighbors in the area told investigators they heard knocks on their doors around 1am Saturday morning. The time of the murders is not certain but according to Chief Deputy Todd Jones, “It’s possible that someone escaped the home and ran for help, we would love to talk to that person.”

Another part of the investigation centers around the death of another man on January 31st at the same location. John Allen Kennedy, age 50 was found dead at the residence. Chad Lee Kennedy and John Allen Kennedy are brothers. The cause of death has not been determined but Jones said Thursday, “We are awaiting the autopsy results, there were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play.”

The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office is asking for any information the public might have. Call detectives at 828-632-1111. You can also phone CRIMESTOPPERS of Alexander County at 828-632-8555.
