According to a news release from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office, a juvenile has been charged with armed robbery.
On Friday, February 2, Iredell County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Bethlehem Road in western Iredell County in reference to a victim stating someone had just attempted to rob him at gunpoint.
When the deputies arrived, they located the victim and learned that the gunman had approached him stating,“Give me everything in your pockets,” while pointing a gun at him. The victim refused and told the suspect to leave. When the gunman realized he wasn’t getting anything from the victim, he stated, “I will come back and shoot up the whole church,” and fled on foot.
Deputies arrived on the scene and started searching the area for the suspect. After talking with several bystanders it was determined the suspect was a juvenile who lived in the area.
Detectives went to the home of the juvenile. It was determined the suspect matched the description given by the victim. When deputies tried to detain the juvenile, he became very combative, tried to run from officers before spitting in the face of one of the detectives.
The juvenile has been charged with Felony Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Felony Communicating Threats of Mass Violence, and Malicious Conduct by a Prisoner and was transported to the Alexander County Juvenile Detention Center in Taylorsville.
