Students’ report of a gun on campus led to swift action by the Taylorsville Police Department on Wednesday, April 1st.
No students were threatened or in immediate danger.
A North Iredell High School student reportedly drove to a track and field meet at Alexander Central High School where he was met by police officers. Officers found a gun in the student’s car. At no time was the weapon outside of the student’s vehicle. The student was taken into custody to juvenile detention.
North Iredell students had reported a concern through the “See Something Say Something” app, which allows students to anonymously report potential threats and dangers. The School Resource Officer at ACHS reported the information to the police department and officers were able to respond immediately. Alexander County Schools and Iredell-Statesville Schools are crediting the proactive actions of students and the officers with keeping everyone safe.
Alexander County Schools does not tolerate this kind of behavior and works to ensure the safety of students and staff. Iredell-Statesville Schools will ensure applicable policies and procedures are followed. ACS has a responsibility to make sure that our schools are safe for students and staff every day.
