On Sunday, February 2, Deputies from the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic dispute at 130 Skyuka Road in Troutman. Upon arrival, they encountered 23-year old Bradley Gage Johnson, who had prior domestic violence-related charges involving the female victim.
Sergeant J. Smith recognized Johnson’s vehicle and was aware that his pretrial release conditions prohibited contact with the female from the previous incident. Deputies observed the female visibly agitated and aggressively approaching Johnson. To ensure scene safety and conduct a thorough investigation, deputies temporarily detained the female in the back of a patrol vehicle.
While deputies attempted to question Johnson, he fled on foot. During the pursuit, he forcibly entered the patrol vehicle where the female was seated and fled the scene. Deputies immediately initiated a pursuit, which ended a short distance away on Rolling Lane in Statesville. Johnson then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
The female was safely recovered and was not injured during the incident.
The incident is still under investigation and additional charges are pending.
Johnson is being held without bond in the Iredell County Detention Center and is schedule to appear in court today.
