According to information released by authorities Wednesday (March 3), on February 19, 2021, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in reference to an alleged statutory rape. One the report was filed, it was assigned to Detective Sergeant Katie Campbell with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit.
As part of the investigation, the victim was interviewed at the Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center. Based on evidence, and statements gathered during the investigation, Detective Sergeant Campbell was able to obtain six felony arrest warrants on the suspect in this case, Caleb Lee Marrero.
On Monday, Marrero was arrested and taken to the Iredell County Detention Center where bond was set at $75,000 secured on the sex offense charges. He remained in jail as of earlier today (March 4) with bond now set at $101,000 secured. In addition to the sex offense charges, Marrero is also charged with common law robbery and failure to appear. His next District Court date on the sex offense charges is March 23.
