Thompson and Green were arrested Monday, when Iredell Deputies stopped a GMC Yukon pulling a U-Haul utility trailer on Interstate 77 South mile marker 63 for a traffic violation.
As Deputies spoke to Thompson and Green, they noticed discrepancies in their stories and saw other indicators of criminal activity. Thompson indicated that there was a small personal-sized amount of marijuana in the vehicle. Deputies then searched the vehicle and the trailer and found over 162 pounds of marijuana and T.H.C. waxes and oils in totes and garbage bags, along with two handguns, two shotguns, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. When Deputies ran Thompson’s criminal history, they learned he had been convicted of felony assault on a law enforcement officer in Florida, which prevented him from legally possessing firearms.
Both suspects were placed in the Iredell County Detention Center with bond for each set at $300,000.
Thompson has a criminal history that includes three felony counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, along with misdemeanor counts of obstructing official business, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, resisting an officer, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
