STATESVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will temporarily close Interstate 40 over Beulah Road for a few nights this week, as weather allows. Crews with Mountain Creek Contractors are rehabilitating the bridge deck in both directions, adding an overlay of latex modified concrete near mile marker 144.
To do the work safely, one lane will be closed on I-40 East tonight at 7 p.m. At 11 p.m., all eastbound lanes will be closed. Drivers will be detoured from I-40 to Sharon School Road, U.S. 70 and Old Mountain Road, returning to the interstate.
All lanes will open by 6 a.m. Wednesday. The same schedule and detour will be followed for I-40 West near mile marker 144 on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Drivers should reduce speed and use caution in the area.
