A man was killed after a chase-related crash in Statesville on Tuesday.
A NC Highway Patrol Trooper had stopped to assist a driver and passenger of a car with a flat tire off Highway 115. The two men reportedly got back in the vehicle when asked their names.
The vehicle then drove off and the trooper attempted to stop it. A chase ensued and ended when the crash occurred at the end of the Exit 150 off-ramp when the car hit a stationary FedEx truck at the intersection.
A passenger in the suspect vehicle was killed. He’s been identified as 28-year old Keonte Shakir Finney who was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Highway Patrol has arrested 27-year old Ridge Rashun Gray of Statesville. He’s charged with felony flee to elude arrest reckless driving, driving while license revoked and other traffic-related offenses.
