Iredell ATV Crash Claims Life Of Child

The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a 5-year old was killed as the result of an ATV crash on Sunday.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of an accident near the 200 block of Wood Bridge Road in western Iredell County about 4:45 p.m.  Richard Olympic Freeman, 49, and the child were riding an all-terrain vehicle when it flipped according to reports.

The child was pronounced dead after being transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital. Freeman was airlifted to a regional medical facility.

The name of the child has not been released.
