Millsaps On ACHS Campus
On August 24th, Millsaps was named Interim Chief following the retirement of Chief Douglas Bowman.
Following a morning work session by the Taylorsville Town Board, Interim Town Manager Aaron Wike issued a statement saying “It gives me great pleasure to announce that the interim status has been removed from Chief Michael Millsaps’ position effective today. “
The 55-year old Alexander County native has been with the department for 15 years serving as School Recourse Officer at Alexander Central High School.
Millsaps issued the following statement. “I’m honored to be chosen. I’ve been a member of the community for multiple years and grew up here,” said Millsaps. “The Taylorsville Police officers used to give us a ride home from ballgames — in a positive way — from Town Park back to where my siblings and I lived on Lewittes Road. Since that day, I wanted to become a Taylorsville Police Officer. And I would be remiss if I didn’t say that God is so good, to bring me here, full circle.”
