Brittney Michelle Melton, age 33 of Hudson, is being held in Alexander County custody. She is charged in Caldwell County with felony fraud, two counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense, felony possession of methamphetamine, violation of her habitual felon status and misdemeanor larceny. Due to overcrowding in the Caldwell Detention facility, Melton is in the custody of the Alexander Jail with bond set at $30,000. Her next court date in Lenoir is scheduled for January 6th.
