Hickory Man To Serve Six To Nine Years In Prison

March 7, 2024 By Richard C. Gilbert

Latron Edward Clark

47-year-old Latron Edward Clark of Hickory, will serve six to nine years in prison following his conviction for multiple criminal offenses and admission of habitual felon status. Clark entered a guilty plea during Catawba County Superior Court on Wednesday, March 6th.

The Honorable William A. Wood, Superior Court Judge from Guilford County, imposed the prison sentence after Clark pleaded guilty to attempted common law robbery, breaking & entering, larceny after breaking & entering and habitual larceny. The sentence length was enhanced by prior felony convictions for breaking/entering in Wake County in March 2017, May 2010 and September 2005.

On July 14, 2023, security video footage showed Clark take a lawnmower from a residential property as an act of larceny. He had four previous convictions for larceny in Wake County (May 2010, June 2008, November 2004 and May 2001).
Five days later, Clark was given a ride by a motorist in Hickory. During a stop, the defendant got out of the vehicle, smashed the window, attempted to choke the victim and took his wallet. On October 20, 2022, security camera footage showed the defendant breaking into a business and removing a cash register.

The cases were investigated by officers from Hickory Police Department. Assistant District Attorney Howard Wellons prosecuted the matter for the State with aid from Legal Assistant Meredith Scott.
