Hickory Man Facing Felony Drug Counts After Alexander County Arrest

Austin Rusty Setzer, age 42 of Hickory, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with felony drug offenses in Alexander County.

He was taken into custody by Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies for felony possession of fentanyl and felony possession of methamphetamine. Setzer is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center with a bond set at $100,000.

Previous charges against Setzer in Alexander County include felony possession of schedule I controlled substance, felony possession of methamphetamine, felony maintaining a vehicle/dwelling or place for controlled substance, possession of a firearm by a felon and assault with a deadly weapon.

Setzer is awaiting trial in Caldwell County for felony arson, felony breaking and entering and felony probation violation.

A misdemeanor larceny charge is pending in Iredell County as well.
